I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

  1. Create a local .sh script for enabling maintenance mode for linux machines

We monitor quite a few Linux/AIX servers and would like the ability to place a shell script in a Linux directory to kick off maintenance mode locally from the machine. Same idea as it was made for the windows machines in a one-click method. Technically, the midrange admin would run the script to enable maintenance and default for 1 hour?

      • Allow duration to be set for one click MM

We are currently using SCCM to call the one click MM when installing patches. Our servers have different length windows so we would like to be able to specify a duration on the one click MM for our different window lengths. Right now we have the default set to the longest window (5 hours) but it leaves some servers in MM longer than desired.

        • Support High-Availability

Since it's using Scheduled Task to put the server(s) in maintenance mode, maybe can leverage the new feature on Windows 2012 R2 for clustered scheduled task. This will provide HA.

          • Logging of one click maintenance mode

It would be great to have historical overview of all maintenance. Currently the one click maintenance mode is not logged to the event log as the other scheduled maintenance tasks is. I would like this to be logged as event id 711 also.

            • Allow for a one-click stop maintenance mode.

Just as you have the one-click maintenance mode, I would like to stop the active maintenance mode for a computer.
When you do a maintenance on a computer, at the end you might want to get it out of maintenance to start monitoring it again as soon as possible.

This has been added to SCOM 2016 Maintenance Mode Scheduler. We have a button to stop and extend hours as needed. You can also use URL parameters such as http://om01/MMweb/InstantMM.aspx?Action=Stop to stop Instant MM

The new version requires SCOM 2016. You can see all the new features here.

You can download it here. http://www.scom2k7.com/downloads/SCOM2016MMScheduler.zip

On the computers page, let us import a CSV file that contains a list of computers.

                • Force MM and prevent the overwriting

In SCOM we have a group which is called MM – Daily 11pm. Servers which are rebooting every night at 11pm are members of this group. We are putting this group for 30 minutes into MM, so no errors are coming up in SCOM because these servers are in MM. Sometimes we need to perform maintenance on servers, let’s say we need to stop a service and install a patch at 11pm. So we put this server into MM from 11pm to 12am. 1 hour should be enough. The server is still a member of the MM – Daily 11pm…
